Chloes' & My Story

Chloe Janae Marie

May 22, 2015

Earlier that week I had gone to see my doctor.  He checked my progression, still at a 2+ and 70-80% I was 39 weeks at that point and had planned an induction for May 22.  Dr. Anderson had given me a prescription to give to Eric. It read "take wife out to dinner the night before induction to any restaurant of her choice" Wednesday night had come and we decided to head over to Costa Vida.
After sitting down to enjoy our meal, my water broke!  I ate a couple bites, had Eric finish his food and we left! (Earlier that day I had worked at the hospital. I was having strong and consistent contractions from the night before. They slowed down while I slept, but resumed during my shift.)
Waiting while Eric grabs our bags

We had already planned on the boys spending the night at the Autrey's because we didn't know when I would be called in for the induction the next day. Luckily we already had their over night bags in the car. Once we dropped them off, we ran home to grab our hospital bags! Eric ran in and showered, grabbed the bags, our personal hygiene, and power cords. I sat out in the car, I didn't want more amniotic fluid to get everywhere.

We arrived at the hospital! I thought for sure I could walk and be just fine. Little did I know, with every step there was a gush of fluid... Luckily for us, a wheelchair was sitting just inside the hospital doors! Eric raced me through the halls :) It was exhilarating! At that point my water had been broke for 45 min and my contractions were 3-5 min apart and very tolerable! We were checked in just after 9!

We had an awesome nurse! She didn't do my IV very well, it hurt the entire time, but that was the least of my worries. My contractions were nice and steady and I was progressing along quite quickly. They told me I could be having my baby girl in just a short couple hours! I couldn't believe it would be so soon! Kelson and Jayson were both about 7 hours of labor.

We were so excited
The anesthesiologist finally came in (He had an emergency and couldn't be there sooner. I was fine with waiting for the epidural. I actually wanted to wait a while before getting it. I also wish I had held off.) I was at a 6+ at that point.  They had me sitting up for this part (with the boys I always rolled over to my side). Shortly after, my labor slowed down... The contractions were still big and still there, but they weren't making much progress. The nurse came in with whats called a peanut ball. It looks just like a yoga exercise ball but shaped like a peanut. The labor and delivery nurses swear they help labor along. Sure enough, I was on the peanut for only an hour and I was ready to push baby girl into the world.

Two and a half pushes later, she was here. Exactly 3:00 AM on the dot. Doc let Eric cut the cord for once; it was really a neat and special experience for him. When Chloe popped out, there was a gush and encomium splashed everywhere! My amniotic fluid was clear, so they had no idea this was coming. My water had broke up high, that could be why we never saw anything green in my water. They immediately called for the NICU nurses to come and observe baby and make sure she didn't need to be taken... She wasn't crying at this point, but she was very active. As the nurses were examining her, Eric told me she had hair. I remember looking over to see her and she started crying that last only a moment.  Then the hiccups set in! She always had the hiccups inside the womb and nothing has changed since being outside the womb. She was beautiful and looked just like Kelson.  They ended up pumping 12 ml of encomium out of her tummy and lungs. She came in weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces and 19.5 inches long.  Once they had her all cleaned up she was all ours :) The moment her and I were skin to skin, Eric and I started to cry.  Our baby girl was finally in our arms. She was finally here and already filling our lives with incredible love, light and unimaginable amount of happiness. (I only had two internal 'rug burns' as they call it! Two small stitches and I was golden)

A nurse wheeled me down to the Mother Baby floor where I actually got to watch them start Chloe's bath.  I wasn't able to watch the whole thing, they wheeled me to my room where I waited for a couple hours for my baby and husband to come. My sleep during that point was very restless. Chloe didn't cry much while they were poking and prodding, scrubbing and rubbing. The only thing she really hated was getting her hair washed!
Born 0300, weighing 7.3 pounds, 19.5 inches

The rest was history!  We got to sleep about 6 and woke up at 10! We had a lot of visitors and it wore us all out. I loved when the pediatrician came in, Dr. Cornish. I loved him raving about how great Chloe looked and amazed at how healthy and well she was. She had hardly lost any weight since being born, her bilirubin was perfect, she had passed her hearing test (the boys never did their first try), she was peeing and pooping as she should have, nursing was a breeze. She was just healthy! She loved to be snuggled and swaddled tight. She often had the hiccups, which were the cutest thing we had ever heard. She sounded just like a squeak toy.

Saturday, May 23rd came and we were pressured to come up with her middle name.  It literally look us all day... The nurse would come in every hour "Have you filled out the paper work yet? Have you decided on her name yet? Ya have to have this done to be discharged and yall be discharged here soon!" We finally decided on Janae Marie. Janae because we really liked it and Marie after me. Chloe and I were discharged by 5 that evening.  I sat in the back with Chloe, as the hospital wont let you leave unless you do so.  She did her gag scene on the ride and actaully had to remove her from the car seat to help her. Let's just say, one of us always sat in the back with her the first month of her life. Anyhow, we sped to the Autrey's and grabbed the boys before heading home.

It's hard to believe that this is experience really happened! That we really have a baby girl to call ours. My pregnancy seemed like a dream. Having her seemed like a dream. Raising her still feels like a dream and she's 2 months old! Our family really needed her sweet spirit to join us.  We all love you Chloe Janae Marie Autrey!

She loves being swaddled!

She got grumpy with Eric not holding her... she has him wrapped around his finger pretty tight!

She really doesn't like this binki!

Just waiting to go home!

Proud big brother! He was happy he got to sit by her on the way home!

Right before feeding time! She loves it just as much as snuggle time!

The boys first visit, meeting Chloe for the first time. They were pretty shy at first!

Kelson absolutely adores her, don't let him fool you!

Jared Sears (cousin) had their baby girl Saturday! We went to see them before our discharge! Chloe and I watching Jared video taping Dazlyn's first bath!

We are pretty in much in love!

We admit that she is very spoiled! How can she not be, look at her!!!
